In a bold move that underscores Meta’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly assembled a dedicated team with the explicit mission of reaching artificial super intelligence. This initiative involves personally recruiting top experts and AI pioneers to join this groundbreaking effort. According to detailed reports from Bloomberg and The New York Times, Zuckerberg actively engages in high-level discussions about potential candidates via a dedicated WhatsApp group named Hiring Party. This group serves as a hub for orchestrating recruitment strategies and sharing insights about leading AI talent.
Sources reveal that Zuckerberg maintains an exclusive list of distinguished AI researchers, infrastructure engineers, and innovative entrepreneurs. Over the past month, he has been personally inviting these individuals to private lunches and dinners at his residence in California, aiming to persuade them to become part of Meta’s visionary team. This targeted approach emphasizes Zuckerberg’s personal investment and the high importance placed on assembling a world-class AI development squad.
While many AI companies are currently focused on developing artificial general intelligence (AGI), which enables machines to perform a broad range of tasks at human-level competence, Zuckerberg’s vision extends further. The ultimate goal is to create artificial super intelligence, an advanced form of AI capable of surpassing human intelligence across all domains. Such an entity would possess intellectual capabilities that far exceed human cognition, enabling unprecedented technological growth and problem-solving abilities.
Recent reports indicate that Zuckerberg has already succeeded in persuading prominent AI startup founder Alexandr Wang, of Scale AI, to join this ambitious project. Meta is poised to invest billions of dollars into Wang’s company, which specializes in providing data essential for training sophisticated AI models. This investment will facilitate the transfer of Scale AI’s talented workforce to Meta, though it remains uncertain whether all employees will transition into the new team.
In addition, Meta has extended lucrative offers—ranging from seven to nine figures—to dozens of AI experts from industry giants such as Google and OpenAI. Many of these highly sought-after professionals have reportedly accepted these enticing proposals. During interviews for potential recruits, Zuckerberg emphasized that Meta’s financial strength allows it to self-fund this AI endeavor, even if the development costs reach billions of dollars. He highlighted that such an approach provides Meta a strategic advantage, as it is not dependent on external funding or investor approval, unlike competitors who need to secure additional capital to sustain their AI ambitions.
