U.S. President Donald Trump publicly thanked Elon Musk for his service as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), praising him during a joint press conference. Trump stated that Musk led “the most comprehensive and impactful government reform effort seen in generations.”

Despite stepping down, Musk will reportedly continue to monitor and support the administration’s operations behind the scenes. “He’s not truly leaving,” Trump noted.

During the press event, Trump also referenced spending identified by DOGE, controversially claiming that former President Joe Biden had allocated $8 million to “turn mice transgender,” a remark that drew both criticism and confusion on social media.
