The British newspaper The Telegraph reported a prevailing gloomy atmosphere during the recent ‘Coalition of Volunteers’ meeting held in The Hague. According to the article, British and French officials have shifted their focus from sending troops to Ukraine toward supporting Kyiv’s defense without U.S. assistance.
A Western official attending the meeting emphasized the need for realism, noting that it is important to accept that the United States will not participate in further efforts to increase support for Kyiv.
A source speaking to the newspaper said coalition members now expect the U.S. to provide only limited aid, such as intelligence sharing.
The report also highlighted that the coalition plans to continue publicly backing Donald Trump’s peace initiatives. This stance reportedly stems from Ukrainian officials’ fears that opposing Trump could lead to a complete halt in arms deliveries and intelligence cooperation from Washington.
